About the Role

Kasohkowew Child Wellness Society (2012) provides statutory Child Intervention services to the community of Samson Cree Nation located in Maskwacis, Alberta, 85 kilometers south of Edmonton. We are currently seeking to hire a committed and motivated individual into the position of Accounts Payable Clerk.


Position Summary:

Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing vendor invoices accurately and in a timely basis in accordance with Kasohkowew Child Wellness Society Financial Policies and Procedures; the Kasohkowew Child Wellness Society Personnel Policies and Procedures; and all applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulations and standards governing Delegated First Nation Agencies.

Requirements

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for payment.

  • Prepare and process cheques runs in accordance with established financial policies and procedures.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendors and service providers by:

    • Processing payments in a timely manner to ensure accounts remain current;

    • Reconciling monthly vendor statements to accounting records and requesting documentation as required; and

    • Responding promptly to vendor inquiries while maintaining written documentation of communications for audit and file purposes.

  • Process approved Purchase Orders and Cheque Requisitions.

·      Provide administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department and perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Supervisor.

 

Qualifications: 

 

·      Must possess an Accounting Diploma, Accounts Payable Certificate and/or related training with two (2) years’ experience working with First Nations Administration.

·      Working knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.

·      Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

·      Reliable transportation and the ability to travel when required.

·      A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and current driver’s abstract.

·      A clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Record Check.
