About the Role
KCWS is looking to hire Band Designates for the Edmonton region, Calgary region and Maskwacis area. This job opportunity is available to members of the four nations of Maskwacis.
The Band Designate will work collaboratively with Provincial Children’s Services authority or other Child Welfare agencies where Samson Cree Nation children are receiving child welfare services. To preserve the child’s community of origin and cultural identity; to ensure that Indigenous culture, social, family values and norms are incorporated in the child case management plans and case management interventions; will consult for other case files of Samson children receiving child welfare services.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)/Bachelor of Indian Social Work (BISW) OR Related Degree with one (1) year related experience OR Related Diploma with two (2) years’ experience with completion of Delegation Training.
Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA) is an asset.
Experience
Must have good knowledge of Samson Cree Nation family connections.
Must have experience working with children and families and be familiar with the issues and factors affecting the local community, and experience in engaging community resources.
Ability to speak Cree, knowledge of the Cree Culture and knowledge of the four nation families is an asset.
Applicant must have excellent communication skills.
Other requirements
Valid class 5 driver’s license, submit driver's abstract.
Willingness to travel, must have own transportation.
Complete and submit a clear criminal records check, vulnerable sector check and Children services intervention check.
